Programs & Education
Humans can embrace an abundance of knowledge about life from animals. They are marvelous examples of balance, unity, moderation, and respect. Interacting with animals on a personal level is life changing. Various studies have proven that animals positively affect vital signs and reduce stress levels in humans.
Our Educational Programs are offered to provide families and individuals the opportunity to experience these benefits. Our animals will teach everything that you need to know. Kate and the volunteer staff are there to facilitate the encounter and reward our generous furry mentors.

Programs Guide
Kids Camp
Now, more than ever, children need spaces to learn, grow, and connect. Here, at The Ranch, we have created a program designed to educate children about animals and the workings of a ranch. But that is just the beginning! Through the teachings of ranch skills and animal care, we will cultivate patience, discipline, focus, and empathy. Our small groups of 6-8 kids create the opportunity to work together and have moments of one on one attention. Each week will highlight one certain animal and a kindness concept. Participants will help with daily feeding, care, and cleaning. The kindness concept for the week will be highlighted and practiced through those daily tasks. Participants will receive one on one handling with the animal of the week as well as greeting all the animals of the sanctuary.

Art Among the Animals
Art Among the Animals is a program designed to expose children to animals in a creative light. We allow them to use their imagination and different artistic skill sets to gain a deeper understanding of these animals.
This 1.5 hour class will have one of our Animal Ambassadors as the model for the art project. We will start by discussing their shapes, colors, and visual characteristics. After which, students will have a chance to draw, sculpt, paint, and create their unique version of our live model.
Cost of the class is $20 per student and class size is limited, must register in advance.
Next Class: TBD

Autism Support
Simply being around animals has proven to be beneficial to emotional and physical health. Their presence is therapeutic but the benefits don't stop at the visual treat of an animal filled setting. The accomplishment of learning to handle, train, and care for an animal has an incredible impact on self esteem, mood, trauma, and over all well being.
For an autistic participant the benefits often reach further:
- social skills and bonding
- communication
- anxiety and depression
- lessen sensory sensitivity
So how does The Ranch help?
We provide a calm atmosphere where autistic participants can work as a volunteer or have one on one sessions depending on their age and autism spectrum. We can incorporate Animal Assisted Activities to practice focus, care giving, responsibility, and of course, playful enjoyment! If your child has a fear of animals we can work together to slowing introduce them in a positive manner. Hopefully, opening the door to more opportunities for personal pets or hippotherapy with a qualified organization!
There is no participation fee for Autism Support Sessions due to the generosity of our supporters.

Ownership Awareness
Ownership Awareness is a program designed to introduce and educate potential owners to the proper care, needs and training of a specific animal. Intended to provide realistic over view of an animal before committing to ownership. Participants will learn about the proper handling and maintenance that will follow a commitment regardless of where the animal is being purchased or adopted from. Our goal is to help share knowledge and experience to decrease the potential of more animals entering the rescue system. One Ownership Awareness session usually lasts from 30 minutes to 1 hour and is offered at no cost.
For example, does your child wish to own a horse? Our Ownership Awareness program will give you and your child an in depth look into the responsibility of caring for a horse. Learn about mucking, feeding, hoof care, and veterinary considerations.
Is your family looking into getting a pig? Come meet our pigs and see how awesome they are. Find out how big they really get! Learn what physical psychological needs they have.
Thinking about getting a "starter pet" such as a rabbit? Learn about the demands of rabbit ownership and what it truly takes to create a healthy and happy rabbit. Unfortunately, rabbits are the third most commonly euthanized pet because owners are often surprised by the various needs and expenses that occur.
